Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) continues to earn industry recognition for its efforts in advancing education in smart computing and quantum technology. To cultivate talent with interdisciplinary and practical skills, the university actively secures industry resources, marking a new milestone in industry-academia collaboration. Recently, CYCU received a joint donation of teaching platforms and equipment valued at NT$364,630 from Holtek Semiconductor and the STEAM Education Development Association. These resources will be utilized in courses such as “IoT System Design” and “Deep Learning,” further enhancing students’ integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Recently, CYCU received a joint donation of teaching platforms and equipment valued at NT$364,360 from Holtek Semiconductor and the STEAM Education Development Association. These resources will be utilized in courses such as “IoT System Design” and “Deep Learning,” further enhancing students’ integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Dr. Yu-Ping Liao, Director of the Smart Computing and Big Data Bachelor’s Program, highlighted the program’s systematic approach to cultivating expertise in artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and quantum computing while emphasizing practical applications to bridge the gap between academia and industry. For example, the upcoming semester’s “IoT System Design” course will incorporate sensor applications, enabling students to master advanced skills and address real-world challenges. Additionally, the university has introduced creative teaching strategies for generative AI, using challenging questions to inspire critical thinking and creativity among students.
Mr. Ren-Kai Xu, General Manager of Technology and an alumnus of Chung Yuan Christian University, expressed his strong support for his alma mater’s educational initiatives. Holtek Semiconductor is dedicated to promoting STEAM education through joint laboratories and activities like the “Holtek Cup MCU Creative Competition,” fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and talent development. Mr. Lin-Cheng Chen, Manager at Holtek Semiconductor, added that the company integrates ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into its business strategy and continues to support industry-academia collaboration and the growth of STEAM education.
The Smart Computing and Big Data Bachelor’s Program has achieved remarkable results through the joint efforts of its faculty and students. For example, under the guidance of Professor Yong-Xiang Chen, students developed the innovative project “Whitening Navigation,” which won a silver award at the MSI Cup competition, showcasing the seamless integration of technology and daily life. Additionally, faculty members are actively engaged in cutting-edge research in quantum computing, AI virtual humans, and educational technology, injecting innovative energy into the program’s curriculum.
CYCU stated that in the face of opportunities and challenges presented by quantum technology and generative AI, the university will continue to strengthen its collaboration with industry. By integrating innovative technologies into applications, CYCU aims to cultivate globally competitive tech talent and inject new energy into Taiwan’s
